Barbara De Coninck kwam ter wereld in de voormalige materniteit van het Sint-Janshospitaal in Brugge. De buiteninstallatie van Giuseppe Penone Le vene del chiostro is om die reden haar ‘madeleine de Proust’. Speciaal voor haar moeder, die erg van de natuur en de mediterrane wereld houdt, klom ze (met als excuus de recente restauratie van dit kunstwerk) in de pen.
